A couple of weeks ago I got my favorite kind of email in my inbox: “I saw your work at Baby Go Round and love your style! My husband and I just had a baby boy… and I would love to have some pictures taken in the near future.” Rebecca and I spoke on the phone to introduce ourselves and so I could give her some guidance on what to expect, what to wear, etc. My best advice: pamper yourself before our shoot! Ask your husband to take over baby for an hour so you can shower and do your hair, put on just a little makeup and an outfit that you feel confident and beautiful in. If mom feels relaxed and beautiful, then so does everyone else. The shoot is focused on baby, but Momma is also in the photos (and Daddy too). Nearly every newborn session the mother exclaims, “I’m so happy you told me to focus on me this morning – this is my first time out of yoga pants and with makeup on in weeks!”

The nursery had this lush rug in it that demanded to have Winston photographed in it. He was a trooper!

And this mobile that I have literally been lusting over for years at Baby Go Round! More importantly, look at that kissable face!!!

Thank you Rebecca and Time for inviting me into your home to document your incredible creation, Winston. I could literally photograph in your home for hours and not tire of how beautifully decorated it is, or how hilarious the two of you are together! Tim, a shout out to you – all other photogs would appreciate this – thank you for going as far as removing the air conditioner from the window so I could get the one shot I really wanted in your living room!
