What a perfect way to start off a wedding season! Jessie and Calvin celebrated the majority of their wedding day at the gorgeous Red Barn at Outlook Farm in South Berwick, Maine, but this wedding day had SO much more to it! The day stated off with a traditional tea ceremony at the home of the bride’s family in Dover, NH. Both families came together before the Catholic wedding ceremony in a way that very much feels like a wedding ceremony itself! At the tea ceremony the bride and groom to be served tea to their parents, grandparents, and close relatives from near and far, and each relative is introduced to the other family. Gifts are presented and exchanged, as well as smiles, hugs and laughter. This was the most meaningful start to a wedding day that I have even documented – a ceremony that I personally feel truly sets the stage for what a wedding day should really be about: family coming together to celebrate the union of two people in love!
After the tea ceremony we photographed Jessie in her traditional dress, then she changed into her dress for the Catholic ceremony at St. Joseph’s church in Dover, NH. The weather was amazing, so after the ceremony we headed up to The Red Barn for bridal party and family portraits before the reception. From start to finish the day couldn’t have gone better! The decor was beautiful, timing was perfect, light was gorgeous – and that full moon and Jessie’s stunning lavender reception gown! I mean, come on! Thank you Calvin & Jessie for choosing me to document this day for you – it was a joy!
