If you haven’t been to Alton Bay in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire you must plan a trip there this summer! It is calm, serene, beautiful. The water is clear, the skies are blue, the air is simply magnificent! And the views! No wonder Karen and Alex planned their wedding on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, at Camp Kabeyun. Karen’s father attended the boys camp when he was young so sharing the beauty and history of the camp with his daughter made the day even more special. But with all this beauty and all the planning, wouldn’t you know that the forecast loomed over everyone’s heads for days before and all morning the day of the wedding! Karen and Alex were determined, though – planning a wedding all the way from Philadelphia (where, by the way, they are both archeologists, as was a huge portion of their wedding guests!) – and they held the ceremony outside, overlooking the lake. It was worth the risk for sure, but you’ll see, just as they were exchanging vows the weather picked up, the wind swirled, and Karen and Alex spoke a little louder and a lot faster! They wrapped it up just in time and ran down the aisle together with beautiful grins on their faces. The storm was short and we were able to get through family portraits outside (whew!) and then more portraits next to the lake – it was awesome!!! Scroll all the way through to see Karen’s incredible dress (have you ever seen a more gorgeous back?!), beautiful setting, and some great dance moves! If only you could actually taste the food and hear the music it would be the complete experience.
