I have known Kate and her big boy Frankie for a few years now – she is one of those people who you meet and pretty much immediately want to know if you can be friends – you know what I mean? Sweet, kind, super smart and clearly awesome. We first got to work together last spring when I did my Motherhood Mini sessions in South Berwick, Maine. She and her first son, Frankie, came along and we chased him around while I snapped some beautiful photos of her with Frankie – and baby in her belly! When she asked later in the spring if I would do her Fresh 48 hospital session and her lifestyle newborn session in the fall when baby #2 arrived I was giddy! (I always am – these are my favorite sessions!). Of course, time flies when you’re NOT the one who is pregnant and also caring for a 3 year old, right?!?! But that is a whole other blog post!! The summer flew by and amidst the hustle and bustle of my wedding season, it is a warm welcome to pause…..and slow down…..and photograph mothers and fathers and their new babies, wherever they are born. Louis Dean was born at Wentworth Douglass Hospital on September 25, 2017 at 10:35am; 8.11 pounds and 21 inches of absolute gorgeousness!

I arrived with time to photograph Kate and Dustin for a few minutes before Frankie arrived to meet his new baby brother for the FIRST time! I mean, what a gift to be witness to this, and to document it for them to have forever! I work fast in order to capture the sweet moments that, with a three year old, happen VERY VERY quickly! I like to document a little bit of everything that is going on, a lot of it that as a women who just gave birth it is hard to really absorb. As a woman who has given birth 3 times in three very different ways I know very well what a blur it all is. But is ALL important: the tiny baby toes, the bandaid on the heel prick boo-boo, the white board with all your info on it, the hospital blanket, the first feedings, big brother playing hide and seek in the tiny closet! It’s all there, it’s all part of your story!

Flash forward a few weeks and we did Lou’s newborn session in the comfort of their home in Dover, NH. The light was beautiful, mom and dad were relaxed and baby Lou and big bother Frankie were amazing!! (snack breaks help 🙂 )
