As I get older I realize how life really does come full circle, that everything you do counts, that friendships last, that love is always beautiful (especially love between two people who are creating a little human life together!) – and that actually Facebook is kind of a gift. I went to high school with andy at Holderness School TWENTY years ago. He played football for my late father and we were friends – he is one of those people you always love to see. Thanks to facebook we’ve kept in touch, and a couple of months ago he reached out asking if I would do their maternity portraits and that they lived in Portland, Maine now. I was more than thrilled! Getting to photograph old friends in their current lives and catch up on life, meet their families, is such a gift. It’s a nice little bonus when they share an anecdote about my dad – it fills me up with joy!
But let’s talk about the most important person of this session: Sarah. This woman exudes confidence, beauty, intelligence. She was comfortable in her body, held her shoulders high and was willing to stand on benches and tall ocean rocks so I could get the shots I wanted for her – so awesome! It is so fun to meet the woman that if Andy had know he was going to marry her back when I knew him at age 14 he would have probably passed out! And soon they will have a baby boy in their arms, sometime in November, and I will get to meet and photograph them all together! Seriously, I am living the dream!
This session was a Mini-Maternity, part of the Motherhood package that I offer, which includes a 45 minute Mini Maternity session OR a Fresh 48 session (in the first 48 hours after baby is born) AND a lifestyle newborn session, which takes place in your home over the course of 2-3 hours, within 14 days (or so) after baby is born. It is truly the best gift you can give yourself, your children and your families!
